What I Don't Want to Write About

I feel called of God to write more, but I'm still not sure what I need to write about. I keep getting a writers block of sorts. I write "of sorts" because I never have really written before. I have some great ideas but I just cannot seem to sit down and actually follow through with them on paper.

I thought it would be good to start compiling a list of things that I do not want to write about, so here goes it:

  1. As a Christian, I do not want to necessarily directly tie everything back to God - especially in that sappy way that many people talk about. (ie. today I saw someone crossing the sidewalk and it made me think about the cross Jesus died on.) It is like everyone feels the need to allegorize their life in order to find some spiritual meaning to their existence.
  2. I do not want to write about things that I do not like, even though those are the things that I am most passionate about. Too many public speakers use complaints to springboard their messages; Can we have a positive voice in the world?
  3. As a pastor, I do not necessarily want to talk about the state of the Global Church - lets face it - it sucks. I believe that the global church looks nothing like what Jesus meant when He said that the Gates of Hell would not prevail against her.
  4. Even though I follow politics, I am going to try to stay away from being to political. I may talk about social and morale issues that have been confused with politics, but I do not plan on talking about who I plan on voting for. And, for all who may ask, I am a partyless voter.
